Ghosts Chance wrote:hello folks im Chances Ghost and im a remote-aholic, you may remember me from that time you went flying across the map.
As an explosives expert i tend to get ALOT of hatemail/fanmail/GGs and it sees that there are some people out there that seem to think that remote explosives require no skill, are OP, and that im some sort of hellspawn of a troll who laughs as the bodys fly.
well part of that is right at least.
most people are used to the standard tricks of placing remotes on objectives, and tossing one as you die for the revenge kill. those are pretty standard and used quite oftin, by dedicated explsives experts and well everyone.
its not that imaginative and most deaths caused by them are easily prevented, you cant really get mad at that... you shoulda looked before you leaped, and against anyone whos smart and watches the killfeed it just plain wont work.
most people who use them that way use them like a sidearm, or like the equipment they are, a neat little trick to get an extra kill or two and give you a shot at defending an objective from far away.
unlike them however, they are my PRIMARY weapon. more then 70% of my kills are from remotes, and every day im coming up with new and interesting ways to sue them, from dropping them on people from above, to finding ways to trow them like frisbees, to (briefly) attaching them to teamates faces and letting them walk around as my own personal mobile explosive.
to drive this point home my weapon is an SMG wich is just weak enough to be underestimated and usually causes people to chase me like im an easy kill.
i use my remotes to hold CQC objectives from overwhelming numbers and once i get entrenched its extremly hard to remove me if i have some meat shields running around as distractions.
those that have faught me, please tell me. are REs OP?
do they truly require no skill?
Its always hilarious to go "I got this guy ...see him Ru..."Explodes" from previously laid explosives but to be fair these things don't or badly render on my PS3 so when i do see them i am already in the "In My Face" zone and most of the time unable to back out of it.
Having said that in my own Honor system i use ingame, explosives have always been a cheap way to get quick kills, like the noobtube or second wind guys getting most of their kills from one-shotting or getting killed-but still be able to kill the guy who killed you from second winding, though claymores setup with a spring trigger in a tactical location is fine, being able to throw C4 instakill-cookies as extra grenades feels wrong in my book, not only does trhowing these bypass cooking / timing grenades as you can just throw and press the button at the right time.
Personally, i have issues with every weapon that can One-Shot someone else, without the need for aiming.

oh but it does require aim, i have to aim well in advance of there ever being a person to aim at :P
Lol, if idd use them (witch i don't) i think they would be a real asset to my playstyle, or maybe they would be too tedious to use with KBM, like grenades.
But i imagin if i in a scenario like yesterday, assault a position, peek trough a wall, take out 2 guys ...backup ..place explosive ...wait for chump to come get me .."BOOM" ...move trough shoot some more people, backup again and then a blob came trough the crack, killed half of the blob and then i overheated my Imperial aand it went downhill from there... but with the explosive, they would have all been dead.
Though i am not sure if i would be ok with "aiming in advance", i am too much of a relic with my own imposed honorable codes i suppose....
